The Forbes Shire Council Bulky Waste Collection will take place from Monday 4 May to Friday 8 May 2026.
When to Put Items Out?
◾Residents must place their bulky waste on the kerb the weekend before collection, between Saturday 2 May and Sunday 3 May 2026.
◾Waste may be collected any time throughout the week, so having it ready early is essential.
Who Can Use This Service?
◾The service is available to all Forbes Shire Council domestic residences that currently receive a standard waste and recycling collection.
Accepted Waste Categories
Residents should separate waste into four distinct piles:
✅Scrap metal & whitegoods (e.g. lawnmowers with fuel removed, bikes, wheelbarrows; remove doors from whitegoods)
✅Garden organics (e.g. prunings under 1.8 m, untreated logs under 25 cm wide)
✅E-waste (e.g. TVs, computers, printers, monitors)
✅General bulky items (e.g. mattresses, furniture up to 1.5 m, floor coverings)
Size Limits
◾The combined waste pile size must not exceed 2 cubic metres (approximately the amount fitting in a standard ute tray).
◾Items must be manageable by a maximum of two people.
Unacceptable Items
The following cannot be collected:
❌Hazardous waste, chemicals, medical waste
❌Gas bottles & fire extinguishers
❌Containers with Liquids
❌Construction/building waste, insulation, asbestos
❌Oversized items or piles over 2 cubic metres
❌Rocks, soil & oversized green waste
Items not accepted may be disposable at the Forbes Recycling and Waste Depot.
How to Present Your Waste
◾Place piles neatly and separately according to the four waste types.
◾Secure or tie down smaller items.
◾Keep waste off footpaths and driveways.
